Summary

Pioneer Tk-8 is a K–8 school serving 648 students in Sacramento, in the Twin Rivers Unified area. Its strongest scores are in the upper grades: seventh graders were above state levels in both English and math, while fourth-grade English and sixth-grade math results were notably weaker. The clearest takeaway is that Pioneer is a local test-score leader—ranking third of 11 nearby schools in English and second in math and science—but remains below state proficiency in all three subjects.

In 2025–26, Pioneer’s proficiency was 47% in English, 35% in math and 26% in science, compared with nearby-school averages of 30%, 25% and 21%. It also outperformed its district by 10 percentage points in English, 7 in math and 5 in science. However, it was 3 points below the state in English, 4 below in math and 10 below in science. Results differed considerably by grade: seventh-grade English reached 74%, compared with 51% statewide, while fourth-grade English was 27%, 18 points below the state. Sixth-grade math was 19%, 18 points below the state. Scores have not kept pace with the state: from 2022–23 to 2025–26, Pioneer’s English, math and science results each declined slightly, while state results rose in all three subjects. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile fell from 50 to 34, and its rating dropped from 3 stars to 2, though Pioneer still ranked fourth among the 11 nearby schools by percentile. This once a great school is rapidly decorating because of the lack of a morale principal. She has repeatedly abused her authority and does nothing to improve the school morale with her depressing appearance and non caring attitude. She does not accept her responsibility diligently or even reasonably so. No good times for the staff and pupils must be her motto. Just wish she would resign. Let someone with more enthusiasm for the better quality of life, education, perks and some little fun for the pupils. So sad. Very sad for the past 7 years. Please resign Mrs. Nun, Please. I know that this school will prosper so much without your dead weight. Thank you in advance for considering this option for your staff and students.
