Summary:

The 14 elementary schools in Saugus Union all serve kindergarten through sixth grade. Their 2025–2026 average proficiency rates were 65% in English language arts (ELA), 62% in math and 57% in science, compared with state rates of 49%, 38% and 36%, respectively. The group average was also slightly below the district comparison in each subject. The most important difference for families is how much results vary from school to school: the top-to-bottom spread was 32 percentage points in ELA, 38 in math and 46 in science.

West Creek Academy leads ELA at 81% and math at 80%; it is 5 points ahead of the next-highest ELA result and 7 points ahead in math. Tesoro del Valle Elementary leads science at 79%, 4 points above West Creek, and is also second in math. At the other end, Skyblue Mesa Elementary is lowest in ELA at 49% and math at 43%; its math result is still 4 points above the state, while its ELA rate is just below it. Cedarcreek Elementary is lowest in science at 33%, 3 points below the state. SchoolDigger ranks West Creek at the 97th percentile statewide, Tesoro at the 92nd, and Emblem Academy and Charles Helmers Elementary at the 91st.

Recent trends are mixed: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, the average school result fell by 2 points in ELA and 1 point in math, while science rose by 2 points; the state’s science result rose by 3 points. Individual schools also moved in different directions. Plum Canyon Elementary gained 12 points in science, while North Park Elementary fell 15 points. Grade-level results can differ, too: Rio Vista Elementary had 33% in third-grade ELA and 69% in fifth grade. For context, the reported measure was free/reduced lunch eligible for 2024–2025, ranging from 20% at West Creek to 83% at Cedarcreek; student–teacher ratios ranged from 23.7 at Skyblue Mesa to 28.9 at West Creek.
