Summary:
Acton-Agua Dulce Unified has three schools serving kindergarten through grade 12: Meadowlark Elementary (K–4), High Desert (grades 5–8), and Vasquez High (grades 9–12). In 2025–26, the schools’ average All Grades results were below the state in ELA, math, and science. The clearest area-wide concern is math: the school average was 17%, 21 percentage points below the state’s 38%.
Vasquez stands out in All Grades ELA, with 52% proficient—23 points above the average of the other two schools—while its math result of 10% is the lowest, 11 points below their average. For a same-grade comparison, however, Vasquez’s grade 11 ELA result was 5 points below the state, and its grade 11 math result was 22 points below. Meadowlark and High Desert were nearly tied in All Grades math at 21% each; both trailed the state. Vasquez’s science result was 21%, 2 points above High Desert’s 19%, but both were below the state. Vasquez also reported a 100% graduation rate, compared with 88% statewide.
Recent results are mixed: from 2024–25 to 2025–26, Vasquez rose 23 points in ELA, 7 in math, and 7 in science; Meadowlark fell 13 points in ELA and 11 in math, while High Desert fell 3 points in ELA but gained 2 in math. The average ELA gap to the state narrowed by 2 points, while the average math gap widened by 2. SchoolDigger ranks Vasquez at the 38th percentile (2 stars), High Desert at the 22nd (1 star), and Meadowlark at the 16th (1 star). In 2024–25, free/reduced lunch eligible figures were 68% at Vasquez, 70% at Meadowlark, and 71% at High Desert; student-teacher ratios ranged from 17.8 to 21.6. High Desert’s 2025–26 chronic absenteeism was just 1%, compared with 18% statewide, despite its below-state test results. Since the schools serve different grade spans, their All Grades results are descriptive rather than same-grade comparisons.
