Summary:
Salinas City Elementary includes 15 schools, all serving kindergarten through sixth grade, so their results offer a useful comparison across the same grade span. In 2025–2026, the schools’ equal-school averages were 30% in English language arts (ELA), 23% in math and 18% in science, compared with California results of 49%, 38% and 36%. The most important finding is that results vary widely: a few schools perform near or above state levels in some subjects, while the overall averages remain well below the state in all three.
Lincoln Elementary and Boronda Elementary stand out, with different strengths. Lincoln led ELA at 50% and math at 47%; its math result was 9 percentage points above the state, and its ELA result was 1 point above. Boronda led science at 47%, 11 points above the state, and came second in ELA at 49%. At the other end, Loma Vista Elementary had the lowest ELA and math results, at 12% and 11%, while Natividad Elementary had the lowest science result, at 8%. The spread from highest to lowest school was 38 percentage points in ELA, 36 in math and 40 in science.
Average results improved from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026: 4 percentage points in ELA, 1 in math and 3 in science. The ELA gap with the state narrowed by 3 points, while the math and science gaps each widened by about 1 point. Individual changes differed: Boronda gained 18 points in ELA and 22 in science, while Mission Park Elementary fell 19 points in science. SchoolDigger’s ranking percentile for Boronda rose from 35 to 59 over the three years provided. Income figures are context, not an explanation of results: for 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligible students made up 28% at Lincoln, 42% at Boronda, 55% at Mission Park and 73% at Loma Vista; Sherwood Elementary was at 90%.
