The Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High district has two public high schools, Los Gatos High and Saratoga High; both serve grades 9–12. In 2025–2026, both schools were well above California’s proficiency rates in English, math, and science. The most important difference is that Saratoga led Los Gatos in all three subjects, with the largest gap in math: 24 percentage points.
Saratoga High stands out for the strongest results: 90% proficiency in English, 85% in math, and 74% in science, compared with 77%, 61%, and 61% at Los Gatos High. Even so, both schools exceeded California’s results—49% in English, 38% in math, and 36% in science. Saratoga also topped the district results in every subject, while Los Gatos was 5 points below the district in English, 10 below in math, and 5 below in science. SchoolDigger ranks Saratoga 28th of 2,137 California schools, up from 54th the prior year; Los Gatos ranks 156th, down from 117th. In 2024–2025, Los Gatos had 1,914 students and a 20.9 student-teacher ratio, compared with Saratoga’s 1,161 students and 19.0 ratio. The schools also differed in the share of students free/reduced lunch eligible that year: 7% at Los Gatos and 4% at Saratoga; these are context, not explanations for score differences.
