The five schools in Los Gatos Union Elementary serve kindergarten through grade 8, with four elementary schools and one middle school in the Los Gatos area. In 2025–26, their average proficiency was 77% in ELA, 77% in math and 69% in science, compared with state results of 49%, 38% and 36%. Every school exceeded the state result in all three subjects, but science and ELA showed much larger differences between schools than math—the most important distinction for families comparing schools.
Daves Avenue Elementary led the group in all three subjects, with 81% in ELA, 79% in math and 79% in science; compared with the other four schools’ average, its advantages were 4, 3 and 13 percentage points, respectively. At the other end, Louise Van Meter Elementary had the lowest ELA result, 68%—11 points below the other schools’ 79% average—and the lowest science result, 63%, 7 points below their 70% average. Raymond J. Fisher Middle had the lowest math result at 76%, but was only 2 points below the other schools’ average. Math scores were more tightly grouped overall than ELA or science.
Average results fell from 2024–25 to 2025–26 by 2 points in ELA, 1 point in math and 6 points in science; all five schools’ science scores declined, including a 14-point drop at Lexington Elementary. Grade-level results can reveal differences hidden by all-grades scores: Lexington had 100% proficiency in third-grade math but 64% in fourth grade. SchoolDigger gives the district a five-star rating and ranks it 37 out of 968. School context measures do not align in a simple way with results: Daves leads despite a 23.8 student-teacher ratio, while all five schools report free/reduced lunch eligible figures for 2024–25, from 5% at Lexington to 7% at Blossom Hill Elementary.
