Summary:
Journey District has one listed elementary school, Journey, serving kindergarten through grade 6, with 570 students reported in 2024–25. Since it is the only school listed, families have no other district school to compare it with. In 2025–26, its all-grades proficiency was 36% in English language arts (ELA), 27% in math and 24% in science, compared with California results of 49%, 38% and 36%, respectively. The gaps were 13 percentage points in ELA, 11 in math and 12 in science. The most important finding is that Journey scored below the state in all three subjects.
Within the grade-level results, third-grade ELA stands out positively, while older-grade math is a concern. Third-grade ELA proficiency was 48%, 4 percentage points above the state result; fourth-grade ELA was 28%, 18 points below the state. Math proficiency fell from 44% in grade 3 to 16% in grade 6, a 28-point difference; grade 6 was 21 points below the state. Chronic absenteeism is also higher than the state rate: 30% at Journey versus 18% statewide in 2025–26, a 12-point gap. These differences make grade-by-grade results useful context, even though families cannot compare Journey with another listed district school.
Journey’s all-grades results improved from 2024–25 to 2025–26, and its gap with the state narrowed in every subject: proficiency rose 4 points in ELA, 3 in math and 16 in science, while the gaps narrowed by 4, 2 and 12 points, respectively. Results nevertheless remained below state levels. SchoolDigger ranked Journey 3,932 of 5,804 schools, in the 32nd percentile, with 2 stars in 2025–26; its percentile was 23 the previous year. Other context includes a student-teacher ratio of 25.5 in 2024–25 and 82% free/reduced lunch eligible in school year 2024–25. These are observations about the school, not explanations for its results.
