Summary:
Commerce, California, has three listed schools: two elementary schools and one classified as a high school. In 2025–2026, all three were below California’s all-grades results in ELA and math: their average was 15% in ELA versus 49% statewide, and 12% in math versus 38% statewide. The two schools with reported science results averaged 16%, compared with 36% statewide. The clearest area-wide concern is that proficiency results trail the state most sharply in ELA, by 34 percentage points on average.
Rosewood Park stands out at the top of the reported all-grades results, with 26% proficient in ELA, 21% in math, and 19% in science. It leads Bandini Elementary by 13 points in ELA and 6 in math; its reported science result is 6 points higher. Kirby Dorothy Camp is lowest in ELA and math, at 6% and 0%; it trails Rosewood by 20 points in ELA and 21 in math. Bandini’s all-grades results are 13% in ELA, 15% in math, and 13% in science. Because the schools serve different grade spans and Kirby’s science result is suppressed, comparisons cover only reported results and do not always reflect the same student groups.
Results declined overall from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026: the three-school ELA average fell by 5 points and the math average by 4 points, while the two-school science average was essentially unchanged. Grade-level results offer a useful exception: Bandini leads Rosewood in fifth-grade ELA by 3 points and math by 3 points, despite Rosewood’s all-grades lead. SchoolDigger ranks all three low statewide in 2025–2026: Rosewood is at the 6th percentile, Bandini the 4th, and Kirby the 3rd. Context differs too: for 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligible figures were 86% at Rosewood, 84% at Bandini, and 95% at Kirby; student-teacher ratios were 21.2, 16.7, and 8.7, respectively. These figures describe different school profiles but do not explain achievement differences.
