As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My son just finished his 5th year at PTS. The first 4 years were great! This final year was a disaster and we won’t be going back.

The school’s motto used to be they would never give up on the students and whatever help & accomodations the kids needed (within reason) would be given. This year I’ve seen that all change.

The principal, Eric Stone has developed an attitude of it’s all about outward appearances. This attitude has trickled down to the teachers and students as well. For example, some of the teachers told the students only those who have A & B grades deserve to be there. One student saw my son’s grade in a class he struggles in and told him he shouldn’t be at that school.

My son also has ADHD and the school continually punished him with lunch detention (no recess) for behaviors related to his ADHD.

I no longer recommend this school unless your child fits their mold...compliant, obedient, studious, and earns high grades. Close Quote

Open Quote This school has been nothing but amazing. My kids have been going for the last 6 years. All the teachers know all the students and most the parents. The principal is present and involved. When I do have concerns the teacher and principle listen and care about my thoughts. My kids love the core values and respect the other students for each other. We couldn’t be happier with a school Close Quote

Open Quote I cannot say enough wonderful things about this school and their staff! Their values on character play a role in addition to the stellar education. Poised for excellence, PTS is one of the few schools that received an A rating from AZ Department of Education. They are ranked as a top school for academic merit. As for their teachers, they are amazing! I've never seen a staff continuously go above and beyond for their students. When my son was in the hospital for surgery, his teacher came from her home in surprise to the hospital in downtown Phoenix to visit. At color run this year, the 5th-8th grade teachers got in on the fun with their students and came out as covered as the students. Watching the bond their students have with their teachers makes me proud to have my children attend here. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
