Summary

Oakwood Elementary School is a 937-student school serving prekindergarten through grade 8 in Peoria, in the Peoria Unified School District. In 2025–26, 55% of students were proficient in English language arts (ELA) and 47% in math, both above state and district rates. Oakwood’s clearest distinction is ELA: it had the strongest overall result among nearby Peoria Unified schools and ranked second among the 10 nearby schools in the comparison.

Oakwood’s results are strong against both district and state benchmarks: ELA proficiency was 11 points above the district and 14 points above the state, while math was 10 and 14 points higher, respectively. Compared with nearby schools, Oakwood was 13 points above their average in ELA and 12 points above in math; only Legacy Traditional School – Glendale scored higher in ELA, while Copperwood School and Legacy Traditional scored higher in math. Science also exceeded state and district rates in grades 5 and 8. Oakwood’s grade 5 science result was 10 points above the nearby-school average, but its grade 8 result was about 1 point below that average.

Oakwood’s science results have improved over the longer term: grade 5 rose 7 points to 47% from 2022–23 to 2024–25, while grade 8 rose 15 points to 43%, though it fell from its 47% peak the prior year. One subgroup result also stands out: SchoolDigger’s measure of how well Oakwood serves White students was at the 28th percentile, 42 points below its overall percentile. Its measure for Female Students fell 24 points, from the 65th percentile in 2023–24 to the 41st in 2025–26.
