Similarly, in English Language Arts, only 18% of 7th-grade students and 21% of 8th-grade students were proficient or better, compared to the state averages of 42% and 40%, respectively. Estrella Middle School's performance is significantly lower than that of nearby schools within the same district, such as Marc T. Atkinson Middle School & Gifted Academy and Desert Sands Academy of Mass Communication & Journalism, which consistently outperform Estrella Middle School in academic metrics, with higher test scores and better rankings. The high percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and the relatively high dropout rates at Estrella Middle School may be contributing factors to the school's poor academic performance, presenting an opportunity for the district and school administration to identify and implement strategies to improve student outcomes.

Open Quote My wife has worked at this school for several years, and we are thankful that she has finally gotten a new job and will be getting out of the District.. She keeps telling me that it is the worst school she has ever worked at.. there is so much unprofessionalism..if you are not "IN" with the Admin.. you are dirt. You can see the lack of professionalism when you see Admin cohorting with teachers at the local bars, or at the QT. Also.. blue haired and tatted teachers wearing skimpy outfits??? Instead of a dress code for students, they should have one for the teachers.. Does the Superintendent ever question why so many teachers leave that school??? Maybe he should. Close Quote
