About the Arizona’s Measurement of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching: AzMERIT is a computer-based test which provides engaging questions and measures critical thinking skills for college and career readiness. For schools that are not yet ready, a paper-based version will be available.

AzMERIT is aligned to Arizona’s state learning standards which detail what students should be able to do at each grade level.

The test is designed to measure student learning and progress towards readiness for college or career.

Arizona controls the decision making for all aspects of the tests including test content, scoring, and reporting. Arizona educators are involved in the development of AzMERIT.

About Student-Teacher Ratio
Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
