Summary

Del Rio Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Chino Valley, Arizona, serving grades 3-5 with a total enrollment of 477 students. The school is part of the Chino Valley Unified District, which is ranked 214 out of 289 districts in Arizona and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Del Rio Elementary School has consistently ranked in the middle range of Arizona elementary schools, with rankings between 366 and 626 out of over 1,000 schools in recent years. The school's performance on state assessments is mixed, with some grades and subjects performing above the state average (e.g., 3rd and 4th grade English Language Arts) and others performing below (e.g., 5th grade Mathematics). Compared to the Chino Valley Unified District, Del Rio Elementary School's performance is generally on par, with similar proficiency rates in most subjects and grade levels. The school has a diverse student population, with significant representation of Hispanic, Native American, and Multi-racial students. While Hispanic and Native American students tend to perform better than the school's overall average, White and English Language Learner students tend to perform worse. The school's performance for Special Education students is a concern, with rankings in the bottom 20% of Arizona elementary schools in recent years.

Del Rio Elementary School's overall ranking has been declining over the past few years, dropping from the top 40% of Arizona elementary schools in 2014-2015 to the bottom 50% in 2024-2025. This trend is concerning and suggests that the school may need to implement targeted interventions and strategies to improve student outcomes. The school's performance varies significantly across grade levels and subject areas, and the significant performance gaps between different student subgroups suggest that the school may need to implement more equitable and inclusive practices to support the academic success of all students. When compared to nearby schools, such as Lake Valley Elementary School and Granite Mountain Middle School, which are part of the Humboldt Unified District and Prescott Unified District, respectively, Del Rio Elementary School's performance is generally lower.

Open Quote My daughter has been going to Del Rio for three years and so far her first and third grade teachers were amazing. We had many problems with her second grade teacher and after meeting with the principle we finally had closure. The main reason I gave it 4 stars is because they are reconfiguring the schools and moving the first grade to a different Elementary school on the other side of town meaning I still have two different school pick ups for my other child who is going to be in first grade this year. It really makes no sense. Pre-k, k and 1st grade in one school and 2-5 at another!!! Over all great teachers, great staff. Overall good experience. Close Quote
