Summary:
The 19 schools in Yuma Elementary District include 14 elementary schools and five middle schools serving elementary and middle grades in Yuma. Across 18 schools with reported 2025–26 all-grades results, averages were 33% in ELA and 24% in math, compared with state figures of 41% and 33%. The clearest area-wide concern is math: the average was 9 percentage points below the state, versus an 8-point gap in ELA, and school results spanned 50 points in math compared with 35 in ELA.
James D. Price School leads both subjects, with 50% proficiency in ELA and 57% in math—9 and 24 points above the state, respectively. Dorothy Hall Elementary is next at 47% in ELA and 45% in math, also above state in both. At the lower end, Pecan Grove Elementary has the lowest ELA result, 15%, while Fourth Avenue Junior High has the lowest math result, 7%; each is 26 points below the state figure for that subject. Among middle schools, Ron Watson Middle School leads all-grades ELA at 35%, still 6 points below state, while Castle Dome Middle School has the lowest middle-school math result at 10%.
SchoolDigger rankings improved for more schools than they declined: of 14 schools with back-to-back percentile ranks, nine rose, four fell, and one was unchanged, with an average increase of 4 percentile points. Dorothy Hall has the highest listed statewide percentile, 60th; Fourth Avenue is lowest, 6th. These rank changes do not establish whether test proficiency is catching up to state levels. Size and student–teacher ratios do not consistently track results: Price has 63 students and the highest scores, while the largest school, Castle Dome, has 939 students and results of 30% in ELA and 10% in math. Similarly, Dorothy Hall and Desert Mesa Elementary have similar ratios—20.3 and 20.6 students per teacher—but Dorothy Hall is higher by 8 points in ELA and 7 in math. The digital academy’s all-grades scores are suppressed, and free/reduced-lunch fields are blank.
