Summary:

The seven elementary schools in Kingman Unified School District enroll 3,545 students and serve different grade spans, from K–5 to PK–8, in the Kingman area. The clearest area-wide concern is that reported school averages are below state results in every tested grade of ELA and math: averages range from 27% to 36%, compared with state rates of 38% to 47% in ELA, and from 27% to 32%, compared with 38% to 40% in math. Overall, no tested grade has a reported average that reaches its state benchmark.

Several schools stand out in particular grades, but no one school leads across the board. Hualapai Elementary had the strongest reported fourth-grade math result, 46%, 6 points above the state’s 40%; Desert Willow Elementary School led fourth-grade ELA at 45%, just 2 points below the state. Manzanita Elementary had the highest fifth-grade science result, 40%, 6 points above the state and 13 points above the district. At the lower end, Black Mountain Elementary School had the lowest all-grades math result, 9%, and tied Mt Tipton Elementary School for the lowest all-grades ELA result, 21%. Results also vary by grade: fourth-grade math ranged from 22% at Desert Willow to 46% at Hualapai.

Recent SchoolDigger ranking percentiles show mixed movement rather than a common trend: from 2023–24 to 2025–26, Manzanita fell from the 48th to the 38th percentile and Black Mountain from the 22nd to the 8th, while Cerbat Elementary rose from the 5th to the 10th and Desert Willow from the 20th to the 26th; Hualapai moved from the 45th to the 38th. The five-school average declined from the 28th to the 24th percentile, but these are rankings, not test-score trends. SchoolDigger lists Hualapai and Manzanita highest among the schools at the 38th percentile, and the district at the 15th percentile with 1 star. Ratios do not show a simple connection to results: Manzanita’s listed ratio was 23 while Desert Willow’s was 15.8, yet each had notable results in different subjects; free/reduced-lunch figures were not provided.
