Summary

Renaissance School of Art and Reasoning is a very small public middle school serving just 80 students in grades 6-8 within the highly-regarded Lake Washington School District in Sammamish, WA.

This school stands out for its intimate size and specialized focus on art and reasoning, which fosters a unique learning environment with more individual attention than larger area schools. Academically, it shows notable strengths, particularly in science where its 90% proficiency rate recently outpaced the district average and most nearby schools like Evergreen Middle School and Beaver Lake Middle School. However, its year-to-year statewide ranking can fluctuate more than larger, consistently top-ranked peers such as Timberline Middle School, which may be a factor of its very small student population.

Families considering Renaissance should note its distinctive profile: it achieves strong results with lower per-student spending than many comparison schools and serves a community with very low economic disadvantage relative to other schools in the Issaquah School District or Bellevue School District. Choosing this school means selecting a specialized, close-knit educational approach that excels in creative and critical thinking within one of the state's highest-performing academic regions.

Open Quote As many people mentioned the teachers are very nice and kind people. But classes are overfilled. Teachers are not discipline kids and kids are screaming, walking around and going wild during the class time. Not a good environment for learning at all. Teachers are not involved if students need help in their discipline (not staying after school with kids to parse the problem topic, not following up on subject etc). It's a pattern that some teachers are not checking turned in classwork/homework for weeks-months, so you will continue to see "missing assignment". Also in our opinion they are overdoing the pivot to homosexuals' and transgender trends and many kids decided that they are homosexuals' or transgender way more than statistics is supports. Overall, it's a nice school and good teachers, but need to be more focused on education. Close Quote
