Summary

Pacific Cascade Middle School is a highly-ranked public school serving 605 students in grades 6-8 within the top-performing Issaquah School District in Washington.

The school is a model of consistent excellence, ranking in the top 5% of state middle schools for the past decade, with students significantly outperforming state averages in English, Math, and Science. It shows particular strength in supporting students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, whose performance has improved dramatically to the 92nd percentile. While the school excels overall, there is a noted dip in 8th-grade math proficiency compared to 6th grade, a pattern also seen at nearby schools like Cougar Mountain Middle School and Pine Lake Middle School, suggesting a common regional focus area.

Located in an exceptional educational cluster, PCMS is surrounded by other top-tier schools, including higher-ranked Beaver Lake Middle School and Pine Lake Middle School. It achieves its strong results efficiently, with a higher student-teacher ratio and mid-range per-student spending compared to peers like Tillicum Middle School in the Bellevue School District. The school contributes to the Issaquah School District's outstanding reputation, where all middle schools rank in the top 12% statewide.

Open Quote Laura Meserole, a counselor at the school and Kim Schneider, with the registrar, have been two of the most caring and helpful school staff I have ever met in my life. And I'm in the business of education and also have met many administrators. If staff are always like this in any school, the school is destined for success - as PCMS has achieved. It does deserve more credit in my humble opinion as a parent of two of its 8th graders currently. Close Quote
