Summary

Oyler School is an alternative public school in Cincinnati Public Schools that serves grades PK-12 with 503 students. The school faces significant challenges, with low test scores, high chronic absenteeism, and below-average graduation rates compared to state and district averages.

Oyler School's 4-year graduation rates have ranged from 75% to 90% in recent years, lower than the state average of around 85%. The school also has very high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 43.5% to 60.7%, significantly higher than state and district averages. Academically, Oyler students perform well below state and district averages on Ohio state assessments across all subjects and grade levels, with particularly low math proficiency rates ranging from 9.5% to 40%.

While Oyler School spends $10,706 per student, higher than the district average, it still struggles academically. This suggests that simply increasing funding may not be enough to drive improvement - the school likely needs a comprehensive strategy focused on attendance, instruction, and student support. Interestingly, Spencer Center for Gifted and Exceptional Students and School For Creative and Performing Arts, other schools in the Cincinnati Public Schools district, have much higher test scores, graduation rates, and lower chronic absenteeism than Oyler School.
