Summary

Cuthbertson High is a public high school located in Waxhaw, North Carolina, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 1,900 students. It is part of the Union County Public Schools district, which is ranked 42 out of 242 districts in North Carolina and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Cuthbertson High consistently ranks among the top high schools in North Carolina, with a statewide ranking between 23 and 96 over the past 10 years. The school has maintained a 4- or 5-star rating from SchoolDigger, indicating excellent academic performance, and its students outperform the district and state averages in End-of-Course (EOC) exams across subjects like Biology, English II, Math I, and Math III. Cuthbertson High also excels in the performance of various student subgroups, including Asian, African American, Hispanic, Multi-racial, English Language Learners, Special Education, and Gifted and Talented students, with rankings often in the top 10-30% of North Carolina high schools.

Compared to nearby schools like Parkwood High and Sun Valley High, Cuthbertson High has a relatively low percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 4.23% to 8.89% over the past few years. This suggests that the school's exceptional academic performance is not solely dependent on the socioeconomic status of its student population. While Cuthbertson High has a higher student-teacher ratio than some nearby schools, its consistent high performance indicates that this factor does not negatively impact the quality of instruction.

Open Quote I feel like it is one of the best schools in all of Union County Public Schools. Nice Teachers, a clean atmosphere, very little bullying, and a wonderful Music and Athletic Program. The lunches though are the same as every other public school, just ok... Close Quote

Open Quote Great, Great school. Teachers help and come in early if needed. We have had to email some at night and they have always email back to help. There is a strong feel of pride in this school and a lot of energy. Thanks for all you bring to our community. Close Quote

Open Quote I completely disagree with the previous review! My son is a freshman there and is exceling in all areas with an A average with all honors classes (4.75 GPA). We have found the teachers and staff to be fantastic! They are very responsive via email and truly care about our kids. Close Quote

Open Quote Do not send your child to Cuthbertson. Terrible administration and unhelpful guidance. Students are pushed way too far. Teachers are unkind and students are judgemental. Close Quote
