Summary

Parkwood High is a public high school located in Monroe, North Carolina, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 1,055 students. It is part of the Union County Public Schools district, which is ranked 42 out of 242 districts in North Carolina and is rated 4 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

Parkwood High has consistently ranked in the top half of North Carolina high schools, with a current ranking of 197 out of 641 schools. The school's performance on End-of-Course (EOC) exams is mixed compared to the district and state averages, with some subjects showing improvement while others have declined. Parkwood High has maintained a strong four-year graduation rate, ranging from 86.9% to 94.2% over the past few years, on par with or slightly higher than the district's graduation rates. The school performs particularly well in certain student subgroups, such as African American, Hispanic, and Multi-racial students, but its performance for White students and students with disabilities lags behind.

Compared to nearby high-performing schools like Marvin Ridge High, Weddington High, and Central Academy of Technology and Arts, Parkwood High's academic performance is generally lower. However, the school performs better than the nearby Sun Valley High, which has lower academic achievement and a higher percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Parkwood High's declining ranking and star rating over the years suggest the need for further analysis and targeted interventions to address the factors contributing to this trend.

Open Quote A small, wonderful school with a strong sense of community. My child loved attending school here & found the teaching staff very engaged with the students. Unfortunately we are no longer there due to moving out of state. We greatly miss this school! It is a "hidden gem" in my opinion. Close Quote
