Open Quote Roswell North Elementary continues to struggle. Relational bullying is a persistent problem that the teachers just can’t seem to manage, or choose to ignore. Kids ostracizing others is a common theme throughout the school, I was absolutely appalled when I began reaching out to friends who also have children in this school and they ALL experienced this problem. 5 different families in various classes and grades. We also have to pay $325/mo at Mathnasium to fill the gap that the teachers, and “bear time” can’t accomplish (which IS their job last time I checked). Mountain Park or Sweet Apple Elementary schools are light years ahead of RNE, no wonder it’s only a 7. Time to move. Close Quote

Open Quote Unfortunately, this school is not rising to acceptable levels as quickly as neighboring fulton elementary schools. Last year it was rated a 6, but my daughter had a 10 teacher. This year, although up a point to a 7 rating, I would say my daughter does have 7 teachers. School is overcrowded, good luck finding a parking space for ANY sort of event. Student to Teacher ratios are higher than they should be this could contribute to the 7 rating. Staff is very very nice, but nice doesn't increase scores to adequate levels. Parents are nice and involved. Students are nice. A lot of hometown pride and spirit, so some reviews here may be a bit biased. I grew up in Roswell (love this town) and am now raising my children here, but I tried to be as unbiased for my hometown as possible when writing this review about the school. Close Quote

Open Quote We LOVE this school! We have had kids of different ages at RNE for a span of 9 years now. The school is filled with loving teachers/staff, and very involved families. While we were sad to see our past Principal moved to a different school, we were thrilled with all the great things she did while at RNE, and are super excited after meeting our new Principal! What a fantastic place RNE is! Close Quote

Open Quote The principle is quick to assist when any issue may arise. I like this about her. She also knows many of the students by name and greets them at the front door. Another good trait. The teachers still teach to the test and most are good teachers. There are good and not so good teachers. PTA is awesome but asks a lot of the parents and as the years go by I have seen many parents less available to help out. lunch room noise is awful according to my kid. I think the staff contributes to it by continuously telling them to be quiet over the loud speaker. They are known as lunch Nazis at the middle school. I feel this school is not better or worse than any other. I hear about some better things in other schools and I hear about troubles we don't have in others. Just keep tabs on what's going on no matter where your child is. Speak up. Close Quote

Open Quote Roswell North offers an excellent educational experience provided by energetic, creative, and dedicated teachers. The vast variety of additional educational programs is excellent. RNE is equipped with a Math Lab and a state of the art Science Lab to help lend additional avenues for learning and bringing real life experiences to the students. Technology resources are constantly growing in order to keep up with the world we live in today. In addition to a staffed computer lab, students and teachers have access to multiple portable computer carts that can be utilized in the classrooms. RNE is an amazing elementary school! Close Quote

Open Quote As a parent with 2 children currenlty at Roswell North Elementary, I couldn't be happier. I feel that my children are receiving a well rounded education, learning valuable skills in the Licata Schience lab and are making firneds with a diverse group of children. I am always surprised in the Teacher involvement - I have never had a teacher that I would not recommend to a friend. The teachers go above and beyond the call of duty - they really do seem to love teaching our children. I have one other younger child and I will not hesitate to send her to RNE. Close Quote

Open Quote If you are looking for a school that will offer your children diversity along with high expectations and a caring environment then Roswell North is the school. This is a large school with a small neighborhood school feel. The teachers are professional and hard working. The new principal, Mrs. Smith, has been working over the last few years to improve instruction and collaboration among staff in this building. She has been very purposeful and thoughtful about who she has hired and how they will impact the progress of Roswell North. Change is difficult and I think some of the recent posts reflect that. The only improvement that I would like to see addressed at this point is communication. With the onset of paperless communication it seems things are a little less clear as far as the consistency of message and details, but if it is raised as a concern I am sure it will be handled.
My children have received wonderful instruction from passionate educators for the last several yrs. No school is perfect, but this one has many more positives than negatives. Close Quote

Open Quote I have 2 children at Roswell North Elementary and have been very happy with the teachers, administration, and PTA. Principal Smith is an excellent leader. Mrs. Smith has changed the entire school for the positive by bringing in some wonderful new teachers and making sure that the existing teachers were as good as well (and if they weren't, they are no longer at RNE). She has brought a higher level of technology to the school, increased security, and promoted open communication. She is extremely approachable and willing to meet with parents. RNE's PTA is extraordinary with many active members and involved parents. Close Quote

Open Quote I am the parent of two children at Roswell North. I am very involved with the school - room mom, foundation volunteer (although not on any boards) and have been extremely happy with the teachers and staff at RNE. I am surprised to read comments from other parents who are not happy with our principal. I personally think Mrs. Smith is an exceptional leader. Almost every time I am at the school, I see her and she greets with me a hug and a smile and calls me by name. I have only had one minor issue with one teacher in the four years at RNE. I e-mailed Mrs. Smith about it and within 20 minutes of sending it, Mrs. Smith called me and resolved the issue immediately. She then followed up to make certain I was satisfied.

There is very little teacher turnover at the school which is a good sign that the teachers are happy with the administration. We have a very active PTA and Foundation that raises a lot of money each year to purchase technology and fund the Licata Science Lab that offers our children additional learning opportunities.

I love the diversity at our school, I love the teachers, I love the staff and I truly feel that my children are receiving a top-notch education in a very loving, unpretentious environment. Close Quote

Open Quote I think the new Principal is Amazing! We were new this year and she took my family on a personal tour this summer for almost an hour and knew everything about her school. A PTA and Foundation is only as good as the vision that is set by a strong leader and I think Ms.Smith knows exactly where she is headed with our school! Great job Ms. Smith! My kids love you! Open Quote Yes the new principal is not up to par. She is unapproachable, seems disinterested and is barely visible. The PTA and foundation run this school for now, but without proper leadership from a principal figure I am concerned where Roswell North will end up. Close Quote

Open Quote RNE has been a good school for my kid. I am not impressed with the new principal though. She has not made herself as visible as the previous principal. Lots of improvements have been made thanks to the new foundation, dad's club and pta. Communication is lacking a little more this year as well. Close Quote
