Summary

Fulton Academy of Science and Technology is a K-8 charter school in Roswell, GA, serving 552 students within the Fulton County district, and it stands out for its exceptional Algebra I results and low chronic absenteeism, though its statewide ranking has slipped in recent years.

The school’s biggest strength is its advanced math pathway. In 2025-2026, 96.3% of students scored proficient or better on the Algebra I End-of-Course assessment—far above the district’s 60.6% and the state’s 48.1%. This is a consistent pattern, with proficiency rates above 85% for the past three years. The school also shines in high school-level Physical Science, where 86.3% of 8th graders scored proficient, nearly matching the district and beating the state by 25 points. However, standard 8th grade science proficiency is lower at 41.7%, though it has improved from 26.1% the year before. In elementary math, scores range from 58.9% to 69.1% across grades 3-5, which is solid but trails nearby schools like Sweet Apple Elementary (ranked 29th statewide) and Mountain Park Elementary (ranked 12th), where math proficiency often hits 80-90%. Fulton Academy’s middle school math dips to the mid-50s in grades 6-8, though its advanced track students clearly thrive.

Attendance is a clear positive: chronic absenteeism is just 10.8%, well below the district (16.6%) and state (17.7%) averages, and it has improved for three straight years. The school also maintains a favorable 12.2:1 student-teacher ratio and spends $15,191 per student. That said, its statewide rank has declined from 52nd (96th percentile) in 2022-2023 to 210th (83rd percentile) today, and it now sits behind several nearby schools. Compared to Amana Academy School, another K-8 charter just 3.4 miles away, Fulton Academy’s 8th grade math (56.6%) and science (41.7%) trail Amana’s 81.1% and 52.2%, respectively—even though Amana serves a much higher percentage of students from low-income families. For parents, Fulton Academy remains a strong choice, especially for advanced math, but it faces growing competition in a very high-performing area.

Open Quote This school needs more STEM and stronger administration. Our experience was teachers who didn't have any consistency about how they disciplined children and some were outright rude and unprofessional. This is probably because of the poor leadership or no leadership, so hopefully with the new principal things will improve. There should be a serious evaluation of the curriculum - or hire teachers who can teach the material correctly. There were lots of parental complaints about teachers who lack the skills needed to teach the curriculum properly. Close Quote
