Summary

Silver Palms Elementary School in Pembroke Pines, FL, is a mid-sized public school serving 450 students in grades PK-5 as part of the Broward district, and it has earned a 4-star rating for four consecutive years while climbing from the 68th to the 85th percentile in state rankings.

This school stands out for its consistent academic performance across all grades and subjects, with proficiency rates ranging from 72% to 83% in the most recent testing year. Unlike nearby schools such as Coconut Palm Elementary School, which shows wider swings in scores, Silver Palms avoids significant performance dips. It particularly excels in 5th grade, where proficiency rates of 83% in ELA and 80% in Math surpass district and state averages. While it is not the absolute top performer in the area—Hawkes Bluff Elementary School and Lakeside Elementary School post higher math scores—Silver Palms offers reliable, balanced excellence. Its chronic absenteeism rate of 21.9% is notably lower than the district average of 33.6% and better than several peers like Silver Lakes Elementary School (24.0%).

An interesting contrast is Greentree Preparatory Charter School, which shows volatile performance despite high scores, while Silver Palms delivers steady improvement. The school also achieves strong results with moderate spending ($15,046 per student) compared to higher-spending but lower-performing schools like Silver Lakes ($21,921). For families seeking a safe, upward-trending choice with no major weaknesses, Silver Palms is a standout option in the Pembroke Pines area.

Open Quote Very unhappy with this school. Principal is not actively involved and it appears that the vice principal runs the show. She is very friendly, but does not take care of student matters seriously. Everything is told to hug it out and it will be okay. Sugar coat every thing. No discipline when there is a problem. Communication is also a problem at this school. Never know of things until last minute. Nothing comes home. One email a week that is too long to read. Like garbage spam mail. Very unhappy with this school and will be reassigning next year because administration is the worst i have encountered with all my children. Most teachers are very nice and friendly. Some not personable, but good at the things they teach. Homework is very excessive. Lots of reading and test to take. Soemtimes homework is 3 hours. Too much!! Kids need to have time to be kids and to play too. Overall I would not send my kid here again unless I had no other options. Close Quote
