Summary

Rubidoux High is a public high school serving grades 9-12 for about 1,260 students in the Jurupa Unified School District, operating in a high-needs community where the vast majority of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

While the school achieves a very strong graduation rate of 95%, its academic performance, particularly in math where less than 10% of students are proficient, is a significant concern and places it in the bottom quarter of California high schools. The school also struggles with a high rate of chronic absenteeism, which is nearly double the state average. Interestingly, Patriot High, another school in the same district with a similar student population, performs notably better in core subjects, suggesting that improvement within the district context is possible.

Rubidoux High spends more per student than several nearby schools, including Patriot High and Ramona High, yet has poorer academic outcomes, raising questions about how resources are used. Performance for specific student groups, such as English Learners and those in special education, has shown extreme volatility in recent years. Compared to continuation schools like Nueva Vista Continuation High, Rubidoux performs better, but it lags behind other comprehensive high schools in the region such as Bloomington High.

Open Quote The Rubidoux Early College High School Program is a great opportunity that the high school is able to offer as a middle college.
RHS is highly stereo-typed and misjudged. We are trying to start over, after having more tham half the population move to the new high school in the district, that was supposed to be the reconstructed Rubidoux. We ARE coming back. Close Quote
