Summary:

Fremont County School District #24 includes three schools in Shoshoni serving students from prekindergarten through grade 12: Shoshoni Elementary (PK–6), Shoshoni Junior High School (grades 7–8), and Shoshoni High School (grades 9–12). Across the latest reported results, schools averaged 3.0 percentage points below Wyoming in proficiency, with mathematics and science close to state averages but more uneven ELA results. The clearest concern for families is grade 8 at Junior High: proficiency was 22.8 points below the state in ELA and 15.8 points below in mathematics.

Shoshoni Elementary stands out for the strongest overall position relative to the state, averaging just 0.8 points below across its reported results; grade 3 mathematics was especially strong at 81.3%, 20.1 points above Wyoming. However, grade 6 mathematics was 19.0 points below the state, showing that results vary considerably by grade. Shoshoni Junior High School had the weakest school average, 7.6 points below the state, although grade 7 mathematics was 7.1 points above. Shoshoni High School averaged 2.1 points below the state; its grade 10 science result was 6.0 points above, and its 2024–25 graduation rate exceeded the state rate by 3.9 points. Since the schools serve different grades, these comparisons are with state results for the same grade, not direct same-grade comparisons between schools.

Results moved closer to state averages overall from 2024–25 to 2025–26, but the changes differed by school: Elementary’s average gap improved from 8.1 points below to 0.8 below, and High’s from 4.8 below to 2.1 below, while Junior High shifted from 4.3 below to 7.6 below. SchoolDigger’s percentile rankings also rose from 2024–25 to 2025–26 for Elementary (23 to 45) and High (35 to 47), but fell for Junior High (45 to 32). Enrollment and student-teacher ratios offer context, not an explanation: Junior High has 50 students and a 7.2 ratio, compared with 220 and 10.3 at Elementary and 117 and 9.7 at High. The 2022–23 free/reduced-lunch eligibility measure was highest at Junior High (24.3%), versus 16.2% at Elementary and 13.8% at High.
