Summary:
Park County School District # 6 has eight schools serving students from elementary through high school in the Cody area of northwestern Wyoming: five elementary schools, one middle school and two high schools. Results vary considerably by school and subject, with several schools above Wyoming averages but some notable exceptions. The sharpest difference is between the high schools: in grade 10, Cody High School outscored Heart Mountain Academy by 34.3 percentage points in ELA, 29.2 in math and 41.2 in science.
Glenn Livingston Elementary stands out among the larger elementary schools, averaging at least 82.6% across the available grade 3–5 ELA and math results and grade 4 science, compared with 72.2% at Eastside Elementary and 65.5% at Sunset Elementary; the state average was 58.7%. Glenn’s grade 4 science result was at least 95%, though Sunset led in grade 3 ELA. Cody Middle School was consistently strong in math, scoring 13.5–16.7 points above the state across grades 6–8, while its grade 7 ELA result was 1.7 points below. Wapiti Elementary had a pronounced grade 3 math gap—33.3% versus 61.2% statewide—but its grade 3 ELA was 11 points above the state.
Recent results improved notably at Cody High: across five repeated grade-subject comparisons, its average gain was 18.6 points, versus 2.9 points for Wyoming. Eastside, Sunset and Glenn also improved on repeated elementary results, while Cody Middle’s average change was close to the state’s. SchoolDigger rankings add perspective: Glenn ranked 8th of 148 schools statewide (95th percentile), while Heart Mountain ranked 69th of 81 (15th percentile); Cody High’s percentile rose from 41st in 2023–24 to 84th in 2025–26. Enrollment and student–teacher ratios are similar at the three larger elementary schools, but their results differ; FRL rates were 41.3% at Glenn, 49.0% at Eastside and 43.8% at Sunset, measures that provide context rather than an explanation for outcomes. Some results are suppressed, and Wapiti and Valley Elementary have very small enrollments, so their reported scores warrant particular care.
