Cody’s eight schools serve elementary through high school and enroll 2,008 students: five elementary schools, one middle school and two high schools. Enrollment ranges from 6 to 604 students, with a median of 288, so the schools vary greatly in size. In 2025–2026, the reported elementary averages were above state results in ELA (72.4% versus 56.5%) and math (70.5% versus 61.6%); Cody Middle School was also above state averages in both subjects. The most important finding is that these strong lower-grade averages conceal a sharp divide between Cody’s two high schools.
Glenn Livingston Elementary is the broadest elementary standout: it led known grade 4 and 5 ELA and math results, with scores of 82.2%–92% in ELA and 84.4%–90% in math, and ranked 8th of 148 statewide elementary schools in SchoolDigger’s ranking. But strengths vary by grade: Sunset Elementary led grade 3 ELA at 75.6%, while Eastside Elementary led grade 3 math at 80.5%. Matched test results generally improved faster than state results: across 33 school-grade-subject comparisons, scores rose by an average of at least 7.7 points, versus 2.8 points statewide, though some results fell. SchoolDigger’s rank for Cody High improved from 49th to 13th of roughly 80 schools between 2024–2025 and 2025–2026; Eastside moved from 54th to 21st, while Cody Middle shifted from 13th to 16th. Cody High’s graduation rate was 92.2%, compared with 81.8% at Heart Mountain. Reported free/reduced-lunch eligibility was 28.5% at Cody High and 68.2% at Heart Mountain; these figures describe different school contexts, not reasons for score differences. Results vary by grade and subject, so a school’s overall standing may not reflect the specific experience a family is considering.
