Parkview Elementary

Parkview Elementary is a PK–5 neighborhood school at 10825 W Villard Ave on Milwaukee's northwest side, serving 335 students as part of Milwaukee School District, where 84.2% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and 37.2% were chronically absent in 2024-25.

In absolute terms, Parkview still ranks in the bottom sixth of Wisconsin schools, scoring roughly half the state proficiency rate in reading and math. But it is improving faster than any school around it: it has climbed four years in a row, from the 5th to the 17th percentile — its best rank in a decade and its first star ratings on record. That makes it the highest-ranked MPS school among its ten closest MPS neighbors, ahead of Bruce Elementary, Ninety-Fifth Street Elementary, Craig Montessori School, Bryant Elementary, Maple Tree Elementary, Engleburg Elementary, Grantosa Drive Elementary, River Trail School of Agricultural Science and Emerson Elementary. Parkview now scores above its own district average in all four tested subjects — reading, math, social studies and science — after falling below it in most subjects just a few years ago. Grade-4 social studies is a quiet bright spot at 53.9%, nearly matching Madison Elementary in Wauwatosa School District (51.7%) even though Parkview's low-income rate is far higher, and its grade-4 science score (34.6%) beats Madison's (20.7%).

Attendance is the clearest area still to work on: about one student in three misses 10% or more of the school year, roughly double the state rate, though better than several nearby MPS schools. Parkview spends $19,487 per student — the third-lowest of the ten MPS schools compared — yet ranks first among them in achievement. English Language Learner students are a standout, ranking at the 95th percentile with 5 stars, and special education results jumped from the 1st to the 28th percentile but remain the school's lowest-ranked group.
