Summary

Humboldt Park Elementary is a public elementary school serving grades PK-8 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, part of the Milwaukee School District. The school has consistently ranked in the bottom quarter of Wisconsin elementary schools over the past decade, with a current ranking of 875 out of 1,044 schools and a 1-star rating.

Humboldt Park Elementary struggles academically, with significantly lower proficiency rates in English Language Arts and Mathematics compared to the district and state averages. The school also has high rates of chronic absenteeism and dropout, ranging from 37.0% to 50.4% and 0.6% to 5.6% in recent years, respectively. These challenges are likely exacerbated by the school's high-poverty student population, with 80.22% to 85.23% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.

While Humboldt Park Elementary faces significant obstacles, the nearby Stellar Collegiate Charter School, Bay View Montessori School, and Downtown Montessori have shown that with the right strategies and interventions, schools in the Milwaukee School District can improve academic performance, even in high-poverty areas. Addressing the unique needs of Humboldt Park Elementary's diverse student population will be crucial to driving progress and better supporting student success.

Open Quote I have two sons who have attended Humboldt Park since kindergarten. They will be entering 5th and 7th grades this fall. The school has many outstanding teachers who go above and beyond to provide a quality education within a safe and nurturing environment. It is a culturally diverse school community of engaged learners and families. Love and Logic Principals and Restorative Justice Circles are used to promote a positive environment for learning. The school is very welcoming and makes an effort to engage parents in the learning process. Close Quote
