Wildlands Charter School is a public charter school serving grades 6–12 with an enrollment of about 72 students — roughly ten per grade — in Augusta, Wisconsin, a small rural community where it shares a campus and address with the district's traditional high school, Augusta High. Both sit in the Augusta School District, which makes Augusta High the closest and most controlled comparison available: same building, same community, very different results.

The differences are biggest in attendance and graduation. Wildlands reported 0% chronic absenteeism in 2024–2025, while the district ran about 15% and the state about 17%; Augusta High reported 25%. The school has graduated 100% of its students in three of the last five years, against 86% for the district, 92% for the state, and 82.5% for Augusta High. The school's rank history is volatile, from the state's top position in 2014–2015 to 69th percentile in 2024–2025 and back to 79th in 2025–2026, and among nearby high schools it ranks fourth, behind Memorial High and Fall Creek High, a small, similarly low-spending school that is its closest true peer. Notably, McKinley Charter School — also a small grades 6–12 charter — ranks near the bottom of the state, so charter status alone predicts nothing.
