Ashland High is a public high school serving grades 9–12 in Ashland, Wisconsin, a small northern Wisconsin community on the shore of Lake Superior, and it enrolls 589 students within the Ashland School District. It is by far the largest of the three local high schools — about 3.2 times the size of Washburn High (182 students) and 4.9 times the size of Bayfield High (119 students) — and it has the highest economic-need indicator of the three, with 54.16% of students eligible for free or reduced lunch in 2024–2025. For 2025–2026, Ashland High is ranked 389th of 533 Wisconsin high schools (27th percentile, 1 star), and the Ashland School District is ranked 345th of 432 (1 star).

Academically, Ashland High is below state averages in all four tested subjects for 2025–2026: math at 25.19% proficient (vs. 42.93% statewide), ELA at 32.59% (vs. 48.47%), social studies at 38.26% (vs. 48.25%), and science at 38.06% (vs. 43.2%). Ashland High's rank percentile climbed from 5 in 2022–2023 to 27 in 2025–2026, and proficiency has risen sharply since 2022–2023 in science (21.7% to 38.06%), social studies (23% to 38.26%), math (10.38% to 25.19%), and ELA (22.64% to 32.59%). Progress is not uniform, however: math slipped from 31.03% in 2024–2025 to 25.19%, ELA dipped slightly, and graduation has fluctuated. Resources are also improving, with per-student spending up from $14,814 to $16,845 and the student-teacher ratio down from 15.3 to 13.2, though spending remains lower and classes larger than at Washburn High and Bayfield High.
