Summary:

Stockbridge School District is a small Wisconsin district with three schools serving pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, enrolling about 192 students in total: Stockbridge Elementary (PK–5, 99 students), Stockbridge Middle (6–8, 40 students), and Stockbridge High (9–12, 53 students). The district overall is rated 1 star and ranked 312th of 432 Wisconsin districts, but that single rating masks sharply different results from school to school.

Stockbridge High is the clear standout, ranked 63rd of 533 high schools — the 88th percentile, with 4 stars. Its graduation rate is 100%, compared with 92% statewide, and its 2025–2026 ACT results are far above state averages: ELA 84.62% vs. 48.47%, math 69.23% vs. 42.93%, and science 61.54% vs. 43.20%. It also has the lowest student-teacher ratio (8.1) and the highest per-pupil spending ($20,075) in the district. Its chronic absenteeism is 14.0%, below the state's 17.3% but above the district's 8.7%. With only 53 students, results can swing widely from year to year — social studies, for example, went from 76.92% to 46.67%.

Stockbridge Elementary and Stockbridge Middle are both 1-star schools in roughly the 18th–19th percentile. Elementary math is the biggest red flag: all grades fell between 16.67% and 23.08% in 2025–2026 while state averages were around 52%–55%, though 5th-grade ELA jumped from 9.09% to 54.55%. Elementary attendance is excellent, with only 3.6% chronic absenteeism. The middle school has stayed in the bottom quartile for three reported years, with 6th-grade math (60% vs. 53.6%) a bright spot. Notably, free/reduced lunch is low across all three schools (3.03%–7.5%), so poverty does not explain the elementary and middle struggles.
