Summary

Cedar High School is a small public school serving approximately 100 students in grades 9–12 in Shelton, Washington, as part of the Shelton School District. Located less than a mile from the much larger Shelton High School, Cedar offers a smaller-school setting with a 13.8-to-1 student-teacher ratio—lower than the ratios at nearby traditional high schools. Its statewide ranking has improved significantly since 2022–2023, but the school remains relatively small, so changes involving only a few students can cause noticeable year-to-year swings.

Cedar’s strongest current academic area is English Language Arts (ELA). In 2025–2026, 59.09% of students were proficient in ELA, above the district rate of 39.76%, the statewide rate of 52.81%, and Shelton High School’s 52.98%.
