The following vaccines are required for Washington State kindergarten entry: DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis), Hep B (Hepatitis B), MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella), Polio and Varicella (chickenpox). Schools report total counts of students based on each student’s Certificate of Immunization Status, which is parent-reported and is not health care provider verified. The goal line is the national Health People 2020 target of 95% completion for these vaccines for school age children.
Protected Students: The number and percent of students in the school reported to have all required vaccinations for their age and grade.
Students with plan: The number and percent of students in the school with a temporary approved plan for getting caught-up on required vaccinations. These students can remain in school if they follow this plan.
Students with exemption: The number and percent of students in the school reported to have any exemption type for at least one vaccine.
Unknown: The number and percent of students whose immunization status is not known. These students do not fall into any other category – they may be missing required vaccines, but have no temporary delay plan or exemptions. Students with no signed CIS on file are also counted here.
