Lowell Elementary School is a public PK–5 school in Seattle’s Capitol Hill area, serving 392 students in the Seattle School District No. 1. The school is larger than most nearby elementary schools and serves a student population with substantial economic need: 71.94% of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch in 2024–2025.

The most important concern is Lowell’s current academic performance. In 2025–2026, 26.67% of students were proficient in English language arts, 29.93% in math, and 22.45% in science. These results were below the Washington state rates of 52.81%, 43.11%, and 50.95%, respectively, and below every nearby school with a reported result in all three subjects. Every child is valued at Lowell, and taught according to his/her abilities. The principal, teachers, therapists, and aides are exceptional. The atmosphere at the school is warm and inclusive, and there is a real effort to promote diversity in every respect. Close Quote
