Summary

Monument Elementary is a 289-student public school serving kindergarten through 5th grade in the Quincy School District in Quincy, Washington, an area where many families face economic challenges.

Although Monument ranks at the 17th percentile statewide, it is currently the strongest-performing elementary school in Quincy in both English language arts and math. In 2025–26, 31.08% of students met standards in ELA and 31.76% met standards in math, compared with 32.96% and 19.54% districtwide. Monument’s math result was higher than every local comparison school, including George Elementary, Ancient Lakes Elementary, Pioneer Elementary, and Mountain View Elementary. Third-grade math was especially strong at 41.38%, above every Quincy school shown. Results have also improved over time: math rose from 25.20% in 2022–23 to 31.76%, while science increased from 12.50% to 24.49%.

The clearest concern is a drop in fifth-grade performance. ELA proficiency fell from 34.48% in third grade and 34.15% in fourth grade to 24.49% in fifth grade; math declined from 41.38% to 20.41% across those grades. Science is improving but remains slightly below the district average and trails Ancient Lakes Elementary, which had 36.51% proficiency. Nearby schools in other districts, such as Columbia Ridge Elementary and Grant Elementary, generally post stronger math results, but they operate in different district settings. Overall, Monument shows encouraging progress, local leadership in core subjects, and a need to strengthen fifth-grade and science outcomes.
