Washington Elementary School is a K–5 school in Kennewick serving 405 students in the Kennewick School District, with a relatively high-need student population and a 13.7-to-1 student-teacher ratio. About 66.91% of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch in 2024–2025. The school ranks in the 26th percentile statewide, an improvement from the 15th percentile in 2023–2024, but it remains below the district and state averages in all three reported subjects.

In 2025–2026, 39.90% of students were proficient in English language arts, 31.53% in math, and 41.94% in science. Math is the most urgent concern, especially in fourth grade, where proficiency was 27.14% compared with 43.68% districtwide. ELA is also a broad challenge: fourth grade was lowest at 35.71%, while third and fifth grades were 40.85% and 43.55%. Science is the clearest bright spot, rising from 27.94% to 41.94% in one year and ranking approximately fourth among the nine nearby Kennewick schools compared.
