Summary

Valhalla Elementary School is a PK–5 school serving approximately 517 students in Auburn, in the Federal Way area, with several nearby elementary and K–8 schools offering useful local comparisons. The school ranks in the 42nd percentile statewide, or 665th of 1,138 Washington schools, and receives two stars. Although its overall performance remains below the state midpoint, its recent progress is notable: the school rose from the 16th percentile in 2023–2024 to the 31st percentile in 2024–2025 and the 42nd percentile in 2025–2026.

Valhalla is one of the stronger traditional elementary schools in its area. It currently trails Camelot Elementary School, at the 52nd percentile, but leads Star Lake Elementary School, Meredith Hill Elementary School, and Wildwood Elementary School. It also compares favorably with lower-ranked nearby schools such as Lake Dolloff Elementary School, Sunnycrest Elementary School, and Mark Twain Elementary School. In 2025–2026, Valhalla exceeded the Federal Way School District average in English Language Arts, math, and science. Math proficiency was 43.10%, nearly equal to the state rate of 43.11%, while science reached 52.70%, more than 20 points above the district average and the strongest result among nearby traditional PK–5 schools.

English Language Arts remains an area to watch: the overall rate was 41.88%, below the state’s 52.81%, although 5th grade reached 51.35%. Science improved sharply from 34.07% to 52.70% in one year, so families may want to see whether that gain continues. Valhalla serves a relatively high-need population, with 75.24% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, and its 17.2-to-1 student-teacher ratio is higher than most nearby competitors. The English Language Learner subgroup ranked at the 31st percentile, while female and male subgroup rankings differed considerably, at the 64th and 25th percentiles. Overall, Valhalla appears to be an improving school with particular strengths in math and science and clear opportunities to strengthen grades 3–4 ELA and targeted student supports.
