Summary

North Middle School is a public middle school serving 719 students in grades 6-8 within the Everett School District, a well-regarded district ranking in the state's top 20%.

Academically, the school holds a 3-star rating and is showing a strong, steady recovery from pandemic-era lows, now performing in the 58th percentile of Washington middle schools. While its English scores are near the state average, math and science scores lag behind both state and Everett School District averages. A notable trend is that student performance tends to decline from 6th to 8th grade, especially in math, which is more pronounced here than at some neighboring schools. The school invests significantly in its students, with a per-student spending of over $20,000, which is higher than other local schools like Eisenhower Middle School and Lake Stevens Middle School.

When compared to other schools, North Middle outperforms some with similar levels of student economic need but trails behind higher-performing peers in its own district, such as Eisenhower Middle School. This indicates that factors beyond funding are influencing results. The school faces a significant challenge in supporting its Special Education students, who perform far below state averages, highlighting a critical area for improvement. Overall, North Middle is a school on an upward trajectory that serves a high-need community, with clear opportunities to strengthen math instruction and specialized support systems to help all students succeed.

Open Quote I have one child that attended and one currently attending North Middle School. The teachers and administrators care about the students and their progression. They work diligently to set high expectations and help all students achieve their goals. The building is not the best but is being remodeled in 2018-2019. There is a diverse student body at this school. Close Quote
