Summary

Meadowdale Elementary is a K-6 public school serving about 430 students in Lynnwood, Washington, as part of the Edmonds School District, and it holds a middle-of-the-road statewide ranking.

The school has some clear strengths, particularly in math, where student proficiency beats both the district and state averages. It also shows exceptional success in supporting its African American students, ranking among the very top schools in Washington for that subgroup. Meadowdale receives more funding per student than many nearby schools like Spruce Elementary and Lynnwood Elementary, and its performance is stronger than some peers with similar student demographics, such as Beverly Elementary. However, performance varies widely within the area, with schools like Maplewood Parent Coop ranking much higher and Cedar Valley Elementary ranking much lower.

There are notable challenges, including a significant performance gap between female and male students and lower scores for English Language Learners and Hispanic students. While older students at Meadowdale perform well, the school's overall ranking has declined in recent years. Compared to other schools in the Edmonds School District, Meadowdale demonstrates that effective practices can lead to solid mid-tier results, even as it works to address disparities among different groups of students.

Open Quote Teacher quality is hit and miss. You must get involved as a parent. There are great teachers here if your child works hard and cares to learn. Class size is a joke and exceeds 30 plus kids. Too many kids with special needs spread through out all grades and the school is not able to deal with them. I'm not talking about kids with learning disabilities, as much as socially awkward kids without any parental support or involvement. Again talk to parents who have kids there. There are a handful of terrific teachers who care and have real drive. Just make sure your child gets in one of those classes or beware. Close Quote
