Summary

Stevenson Elementary is a public elementary school serving about 580 students from Pre-K through 5th grade in the highly-regarded Bellevue School District.

Despite being part of a top-performing district, Stevenson faces significant academic challenges, with student proficiency in English, Math, and Science falling well below both district and state averages. The school's statewide ranking has declined over the past decade, and it now sits in a lower percentile compared to most other Washington elementary schools. It's important to note that Stevenson serves a high-need population, with over half of its students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, and it receives more funding per student than many higher-achieving schools in the area, such as Cherry Crest Elementary School and Jing Mei Elementary School.

This creates a notable contrast within the district, as nearby schools with similar student demographics, like Lake Hills Elementary and Sherwood Forest Elementary, achieve better academic results. The data suggests that Stevenson's struggles are specific to the school and indicate a need for targeted interventions, as the substantial resources and a favorable student-to-teacher ratio have not yet translated into improved academic outcomes for its students.

Open Quote Eh, it was an OK experience for me. I'm a middle school student living in Texas now, and I used to live in Bellevue, where I attended Stevenson for kindergarten through 3rd grade. The teachers were nice, but the education definitely could have been better. The extracurricular activities (music, art, p.e., etc.) were amazing, though! I remember music as my favorite class of the week. Of course, that was years back. I suppose everything has changed now. Judging from the horribly low test score this and last year, I don't think your children should attend Stevenson. I would suggest enrolling your child in a private school. Close Quote
