Hockinson School District

Hockinson School District includes three schools serving grades K–12 and about 2,061 students in the Hockinson area, with strong overall academic results and a district ranking of 20th out of 238 Washington districts. The schools are Hockinson Heights Elementary School for grades K–5, Hockinson Middle School for grades 6–8, and Hockinson High School for grades 9–12.

Hockinson High School is the district’s highest-ranked school, placing in the 86th percentile statewide, with a 97% graduation rate and especially strong English language arts performance. Its math results are also above the state average. The main area to watch is science: proficiency was 49.66%, slightly below the state rate and well below the district’s elementary and middle school results. Hockinson Middle School ranks in the 83rd percentile and is the district’s science leader, with 79.63% proficiency. Its math and ELA results are also above state averages, although sixth-grade ELA is notably weaker than the school’s seventh- and eighth-grade results.

Hockinson Heights Elementary School is the largest school and has shown the strongest recent improvement. Its state ranking rose to the 71st percentile, and proficiency increased in ELA, math, and science, with science making the largest gain. Elementary science is now well above the state average, while ELA and math are above state levels but below districtwide results. Across the district, math is consistently stronger than the state average, and ELA performance generally increases from elementary to high school. Families may want to pay particular attention to high school science, sixth-grade ELA, and continued improvement in elementary literacy and math.
