South Hill Elementary, part of Mecklenburg County Public Schools, serves 767 students in grades PK–5 in South Hill, VA—making it by far the largest elementary school in the region, nearly double the size of nearby schools. The school has historically performed well, earning 4-star ratings in several recent years, but it dropped to a 2-star rating in the 2025–2026 school year, ranking 653rd out of 1,111 Virginia elementary schools.
