Lunenburg County Public Schools is a small, rural Virginia district serving approximately 1,577 students across four schools: Central High (grades 9–12), Lunenburg Middle (grades 6–8), Victoria Elementary (PK–5), and Kenbridge Elementary (PK–5). The district ranks exactly at the statewide median (66th of 131 divisions) with a 3-star rating, and every school serves a highly economically disadvantaged population, with free/reduced lunch rates between 92.7% and 93.8%.

Central High is the district's clear standout, ranking in the 65th percentile of Virginia high schools with a 91.6% graduation rate, a dropout rate half the state average, and SOL pass rates exceeding the state in writing, biology, geometry, and Algebra I. Among the elementary schools, Victoria Elementary is the stronger performer, ranking in the 51st percentile with excellent 3rd grade reading (85.19%) and math (83.33%) results, while Kenbridge Elementary ranks lower (36th percentile) despite spending the most per student ($12,334). Lunenburg Middle is the district's weakest link overall (31st percentile), with 8th grade math and civics below state averages — yet 100% of its 8th graders taking Algebra I passed the SOL.
