Summary

Liberty Elementary is a PK–5 school in South Riding, VA, serving 813 students as part of Loudoun County Public Schools. The school ranks 115th out of 1,111 Virginia elementary schools (90th percentile, 4 stars) in the most recent statewide ranking, following a 5-star performance the prior year. It outperforms its three closest neighbors — Hutchison Farm Elementary, Buffalo Trail Elementary, and Pinebrook Elementary — all of which draw from similar nearby communities but post notably lower 5th-grade scores.

Liberty’s strongest differentiator is its exceptional upper-elementary results. Its 5th-grade math proficiency rate of 94.07% and reading rate of 92.54% exceed district and state averages by wide margins. The school also stands out for remarkable statewide subgroup rankings, including top-tier performances for Hispanic students (17th out of 619), African American students (35th out of 591), and low-income students (94th out of 1,040). Additionally, students with disabilities have shown dramatic improvement, jumping from the 23rd percentile in 2022-2023 to the 77th percentile in 2025-2026. These outcomes suggest a school that supports a diverse student body exceptionally well.

Liberty spends $15,077 per student — less than several nearby schools with weaker results, including Arcola Elementary ($17,582) and Hutchison Farm Elementary ($17,870). One watch item is chronic absenteeism at 15.1%, slightly above district and state averages and higher than Little River Elementary (5.4%) and Goshen Post Elementary (9.7%). Even so, Liberty exceeds district and state proficiency averages in every grade and subject tested, making it a consistently strong choice within an already excellent Loudoun County cluster.

Open Quote It's a very well organized, well funded elementary school in a nice neighborhood. The parent involvement is very high with near 100% PTA enrollment. While our primary teachers have been very good, we especially enjoy the specials teachers; Physical Ed, Music, Art, Computers, as well. The Music program is outstanding, Art projects have been lovely and the PE program has really focused on health and solidly building athletic skills in children with team activities and encouragement. We're really impressed with this school. Close Quote
