Summary

Goshen Post Elementary is a PK–5 public school in Aldie, VA, serving 851 students as part of Loudoun County Public Schools, a district ranked 18th out of 131 in Virginia. The school has built a strong academic reputation, consistently outperforming district and state averages on Virginia SOL assessments across every tested subject and grade level in 2025–2026. Its overall state ranking currently sits at 135th out of 1,111 elementary schools (88th percentile), a step back from its recent 5-star streak that included a 45th-place finish in 2020–2021.

One of the school's standout strengths is its work with English Language Learner students, who ranked 12th out of 315 schools statewide in 2025–2026, building on top-30 finishes in each of the previous two years. Goshen Post also posted a dramatic improvement in chronic absenteeism, dropping from 22.1% in 2022–2023 to just 9.7% in 2024–2025, below both the district (14.1%) and state (14.8%) averages. Math proficiency is a clear academic anchor, with 3rd grade math at 90.85% and 4th grade math at 87.58%, both well above district and state levels. The school also has a low free/reduced lunch rate of 9.28% and a favorable 12.7 student-teacher ratio.

Still, there are areas worth monitoring. Third-grade reading, while above district and state averages at 80.28%, is the school's lowest proficiency rate and trails several nearby schools, including Hovatter Elementary (87.72%) and Cardinal Ridge Elementary (85.82%). Goshen Post also faces strong competition from Madison's Trust Elementary, located about 3.7 miles away, which ranks 31st in Virginia and outperforms Goshen Post in most tested subjects. Subgroup outcomes are uneven: female students rank in the 91st percentile, while White and African American students rank in the 59th and 70th percentiles, respectively. Maintaining its top-tier status will require continued focus on early literacy and ensuring all student groups are served as effectively as the school's highest-performing populations.

Open Quote If you are a single mom, I am so sorry that your kids have to go to this school. In my experience, the school shames single moms that asks for assistance and treats them differently. The principal is, as my daughters and many other parents and children at the school say "scary" She makes rash and poor decisions for the school and parents' concerns.
The events and activities are poorly planned. The morning drop off poorly executed for car riders.
They lost my daughters twice!! Once in 4th grade and once this year in 5th grade. The second time promising my daughter was at the school when she had mistakenly gone home on the bus instead of attending an afterschool activity. Then they yelled at her for it after THEY were the ones that didn't know where she was. The assistant principal said he would take care of this and did NOTHING.
Both my daughters' have been bullied at this school and the teachers did nothing! Close Quote
