The Center for Creativity Innovation and Discovery

Public, Charter Grades K-8
Summary

The Center for Creativity Innovation and Discovery is a public charter elementary school serving grades K-8 in Providence, Utah, with 365 students. While the school aims to provide a unique educational experience focused on creativity and innovation, it has struggled in recent years, ranking in the bottom half of Utah elementary schools and receiving low SchoolDigger ratings of 1-2 stars out of 5.

The school's key challenges include consistently high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 23.8% to 42.3% in recent years, which are significantly higher than the nearby Logan City and Cache district public schools. Additionally, the school's academic performance, as measured by RISE test scores, is well below state and local averages across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in 2023-2024, only 19% of 5th graders were proficient in math, compared to the state average of 44.4%. The school also has a relatively high percentage of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 23.44% to 32.33% in recent years.

While The Center for Creativity Innovation and Discovery faces significant challenges, the nearby public schools in the Cache district, such as River Heights School and Providence School, generally perform better on standardized tests and have lower chronic absenteeism rates. Addressing the issues at The Center for Creativity Innovation and Discovery, such as the high chronic absenteeism and underperformance across all subject areas, will be crucial for the school to improve its outcomes and provide a high-quality education for its students.

Open Quote One of the worst schools I have ever sent my children to. If you are okay with your children being bullied verbally and physically, Suffering a Sexual assault on campus. If you are fine with your child receiving little to no education. If you think 56 children to a classroom or uneducated, inexperienced and unlicensed teachers are okay then this school is for you. Extremely dishonest administration. I know countless children that are attending therapy after leaving this school because of the things they suffered there. The concept sounds amazing but it is not followed. It’s a school that seems to thrive on how it looks to the outside world but inside is a very different story. Close Quote
