Uintah District includes eight elementary schools serving 2,931 students in northeastern Utah, with most schools serving kindergarten through fifth grade and Eagle View School and Uintah Online School serving grades K–8. The district ranks 33rd among 92 Utah districts, but school performance varies considerably. Maeser School is the strongest current performer, ranking in the 93rd percentile, while Discovery School is a strong large-school option, ranking in the 80th percentile.
Maeser has the highest achievement among the larger K–5 schools, averaging about 65% proficiency in English language arts, 73% in mathematics, and 71% in science. Discovery, the district’s largest school with 656 students, also exceeded district results in every reported 2025–2026 subject-grade measure. Naples School is improving, particularly in mathematics and science, while Davis School shows mixed results, including a notable Grade 4 science weakness. Ashley School has improved historically but remains below district averages in most tested areas. Smaller Lapoint School shows promising but highly variable results, so its ranges should be interpreted cautiously.
Attendance is the most widespread concern. Chronic absenteeism exceeds the statewide rate at every school and is above 55% at six schools. It is especially high at Eagle View, at 82.7%, where achievement is also generally low. Ashley, Davis, Naples, and Lapoint also report absenteeism above 60%, while even the high-performing Maeser and Discovery exceed 55%. Uintah Online has the lowest rate, 43.8%, but its small enrollment and limited school-specific test data make comparisons difficult. Lower student-teacher ratios do not consistently correspond with stronger results, suggesting that attendance, instructional practices, and individual school circumstances all matter.
