North Summit District

North Summit District includes three schools serving grades K–12 in northern Utah: an elementary school for kindergarten through fourth grade, a middle school for grades five through eight, and a high school for grades nine through twelve, with 1,043 students overall. The district ranks 17th out of 92 Utah districts, placing it in the 82nd percentile, and all three schools have four-star ratings.

North Summit Middle is the strongest overall performer, ranking in the 88th percentile statewide and showing the district’s highest average assessment results. Science is a particular strength, with 67.2% of tested students proficient on average, and chronic absenteeism is only 6.5%, the lowest in the district. North Summit High also performs well, ranking in the 81st percentile. Its standout result is tenth-grade mathematics, where 58.1% of students were proficient compared with 29.4% statewide. The high school also reports an 89.8% graduation rate, a 7.1% dropout rate, and attendance outcomes better than state averages.

North Summit School ranks in the 70th percentile and posts proficiency rates above state comparisons in English language arts, mathematics, and science. Fourth-grade science is especially strong at 63.6% proficient. The main concern for families is chronic absenteeism: 27.5% of students are chronically absent, far higher than the middle and high schools and slightly above the state rate. Overall, the district offers consistently above-average academic performance, with especially strong middle-school science and high-school mathematics. Parents may want to ask about attendance supports at the elementary school and how the district is responding to recent declines in some middle-school mathematics results.
