Vernal, Utah, has six elementary schools in the Uintah District, serving approximately 2,506 students; five schools serve grades K–5, while Uintah Online School serves grades K–8. The traditional schools offer a wide range of performance levels, with Maeser School and Discovery School standing out as the strongest academically. Maeser ranks 39th among Utah schools and has a five-star rating, while Discovery ranks 110th and has four stars. Their average proficiency across reported tested subjects is approximately 69.4% and 61.9%, respectively.

Naples School is a middle-performing school showing encouraging progress, rising to 226th statewide and improving particularly in mathematics and science. Its English language arts results remain weaker, and its chronic absenteeism rate of 68.3% is the highest in the group. Davis School ranks 262nd and has a mixed profile, with stronger third- and fifth-grade results but notable weaknesses in fourth-grade English language arts, mathematics, and science. Ashley School has improved substantially over three years, but remains the lowest-performing traditional school, ranking 334th. Its most urgent academic needs appear to be third-grade English language arts and mathematics.

Across the traditional schools, science is the strongest subject overall, followed by mathematics, while English language arts is the most consistent area of weakness.
